XRP Portfolio Allocation Calculator

The XRP portfolio allocation calculator helps you size an XRP position relative to your overall net worth and other investments. It does not tell you what allocation is right — that depends on your circumstances — but it shows you what your existing position looks like as a percentage, and what a rebalance to a target allocation would require.

Why allocation matters more than picks

Individual investors over-focus on what to buy and under-focus on how much to buy. Position sizing determines whether a 90% drawdown in XRP destroys your finances or is a manageable setback. A 1% position in your total net worth can lose 90% and you'd barely notice. A 50% position behaving the same way is a life-altering event. The calculator translates your existing positions into percentages so you can see where you sit.

Common allocation frameworks

There is no industry consensus on crypto allocation. Common frames include: very conservative (0–1% of total portfolio), conservative (1–5%), moderate (5–10%), aggressive (10–25%), and concentrated (25%+). Most major financial advisers who comment on crypto recommend the conservative or moderate ranges, sized such that a total loss would not derail other goals. Concentrated allocations are common in crypto-native communities but rare in mainstream portfolio construction.

Inputs the calculator uses

Enter your total investable net worth (cash, investments, ISA, pension), your current XRP value, your other crypto, and your target XRP allocation as a percentage. The calculator returns your current XRP allocation as a percentage of total, the gap between current and target, and the GBP amount you would need to buy or sell to rebalance to target. It also shows your total crypto allocation as a sanity check.

Rebalancing in practice

Rebalancing crypto positions is harder than rebalancing equities for two reasons: tax (every sale is a CGT event in the UK) and operational friction (moving between exchanges takes time). Many investors rebalance with new contributions rather than by selling — when XRP has run up, divert new savings to other assets until the target percentage is restored. The calculator's rebalance number is illustrative; in practice you may want to phase it over multiple months.

Allocation across crypto, not just XRP

If you hold multiple crypto assets, your XRP allocation question is really two questions: how much in crypto overall, and what split within crypto. The calculator focuses on XRP specifically. For overall crypto sizing, use the same framework against your total net worth. Most diversified crypto portfolios anchor on Bitcoin and Ethereum with smaller positions in altcoins including XRP.

Frequently asked questions

We don't recommend a specific number. Most mainstream advisers suggest crypto should be 1–5% of net worth for conservative investors, up to 10% for moderate. Inside crypto, XRP would be a fraction of that.
